Q: 7. What happens after I book?

Once you’ve booked, you’ll receive an email from me with everything you need: a link to choose a time for your 60-minute Clarity Session and your link to the Your Next Chapter app. You’ll have both within 24 hours. Your 30 days of app access start from then. You can use it as much or as little as you like before we meet. If you choose to share your Next Chapter Map with me, I’ll read it beforehand so we can start a little further in. I see the Map you choose to share, not the private conversation behind it.

Q: 5. Is this coaching or therapy?

It’s a practical conversation about what to do next, so it sits closer to coaching than therapy. It isn’t therapy or counselling, and I’m not a therapist. What I do bring is 17 years’ experience training and developing people in the UK, Germany and the Netherlands, as well as remotely with teams in North America and Asia-Pacific. Much of that work was at points when organisations were changing and the people within them had to adapt too. I’ve also changed direction myself more than once, retrained, relocated and worked out several different versions of what life and work could look like. In the Clarity Session, we work forward: what you’re considering, what may need to change, what you already have to work with and what you could test next. If what you need is support with grief, trauma or a mental-health concern, this isn’t the right service for that and a suitably qualified professional would be better placed to support you.

Q: 4. How is a Clarity Session different from career coaching?

Career coaching can be helpful when you know you want support with your career or already have a direction you want to work towards. The Your Next Chapter Clarity Session is a one-off 60-minute conversation that can be particularly helpful when the question is wider than that. You may be wondering whether you want a different career at all. You might be considering self-employment, a different way of working, moving somewhere else, changing the pace of your life, or several possibilities at once. We start with you and the life the decision has to fit into. From there, we look at possible routes and the experiments that could help you learn more before committing to one. If you decide afterwards that longer-term coaching would help, you’ll also have a clearer idea of what you want that support to help you with.

Q: 3. Will the app tell me what I should do?

No. That’s deliberate. The app isn’t there to tell you which job to take, which business to start or what your next chapter should be. It helps you look at the situation from more than one angle. That might mean questioning an assumption, recognising strengths you have overlooked, considering a route you hadn’t thought about, or finding a smaller step between where you are now and the bigger change you have in mind. From there, the focus is on experiments and testing: gathering some real evidence before you make a bigger decision. Try something, notice what happens, learn from it and adjust. Life is often trial and error. Your next chapter can be too.

Q: 2. How do I know if I want a change or if I’m just tired?

That’s exactly why we start with what’s actually going on rather than jumping straight to options. Sometimes what looks like wanting a different career is really wanting a different pace, more control over your week, or work that uses a part of you that’s been dormant. Sometimes it is the career. Those need different answers, and the wrong one is expensive. In the session, we look at what’s drawing you towards change and what you want more and less of before we look at where you might go. Often the first experiment isn’t a leap. It’s a small test that helps you work out which of those you’re dealing with.

Q: 1. What if I don't know what I want yet?

That’s enough to start. You might have an idea you keep coming back to, know the kind of change you want, or simply feel that something in your work or life doesn’t fit the way it used to. We start with where you are. We look at what is drawing you towards the idea, what matters to you now, what you want more or less of, what you already bring with you and the practical realities any change needs to fit around. If you already have an idea, we don’t automatically assume it is the answer. We can explore what sits behind it, whether there are other routes worth considering and what you could test before making a bigger commitment.
